Karen's Story
I have Type 2 diabetes and had gained a lot of weight, following my nurses advice I went on a 12 week programme of Altralife products. During the 12 weeks I stuck to the plan and had shakes only instead of food. I lost 4stone 6lbs in the 12 weeks and then carried on losing weight to the total of 6 stones. I felt better than I had in years, I had more energy and want to do more physical activities. The main thing for me was the health benefits, my diabetes was in control and my blood glucose tests were back in the normal range. It is a challenge to drink just the shakes but after the first week I wasn't hungry on them, I felt healthier and also slept much better.

Philip's Story
I would break my experience down into a beginning, middle and end. The beginning (first 2 weeks) were tough cutting down your whole food intake to just 4 shakes (800 calories) a day. During those first two weeks it became all about my routine, having a routine shaped the middle phase of my experience. Learning how to keep busy at hungry periods, learning what was the best routine for taking my shakes and developing a mental strength I wasn't sure I had. It became apparent quite early on that psychology was going to play a huge role in my 12 week journey. Having got through the first 2 weeks and a routine well and truly established I found that the middle part of my experience was relatively smooth. No real hunger pangs, I was able to ignore other people's food journeys around me without having to deal with temptation. My mental strength during this phase really surprised me. As I got towards the end of my journey (last 2 weeks) I started to develop some of the struggles from the first 2 weeks. This I put down to the psychology of nearing the end of the experience. It was almost like my brain was telling me I was almost there and that all the temptations were coming back. During the 12 weeks the results were fantastic, weight was dropping every week, huge improvements in both my blood pressure and my resting heartbeat were an inspiration to complete the journey. I felt fitter, had higher energy levels and was really enjoying exercising again. I finished my program around 5 months ago and have kept the majority of weight loss off, I still use some of the shakes as part of my weekly diet. I feel that this helps keep my mind focused on my journey and helps to support my all round healthier life style.
